Hügelkultur - Gardening with Logs
We've got wood, we've got soil, and we've got a slope with low fertility and drainage issues. So what better place to start than with a massive hügelkultur bed? Hügelkultur literally means ‘mound culture’ and was developed by Austrian farmer, Sepp Holzer. The idea is to use decomposing wood and leaf litter buried under topsoil as a slow-release fertiliser, which feed plants and trees over time.
